A Crest is a sigil of power that allows its wielder to access signature abilities outside of their usual limits. An esper's crest is their trump card, their signature ability, or the basis for their combat and lifesyle. Standard Crests manifest on those who match the proper personality or bloodline, and changing one's Crest is a long and arduous process that often changes the wielder as well.
Deadman's Crest
Sigil: The Deadman's Crest is a black skull and crossbones commonly found on the back of the wielder's left hand.
Physical Changes: None
Standard Effect: The Deadman's Crest increases all saves against magical effects by +3. In addition, the wielder can spend their maximum allowed energy per turn to attempt a Counterspell, using their Agility in place of Focus.
Advanced Effect: Advanced users of the Deadman's Crest can use their unique Counterspell against Techniques as well as Spells. When used against a Technique, the wielder tests their Agility against their opponent's Might.
Mastered Effect: A master of the Deadman's Crest can spend a Utility action once per day to prevent their target from spending Energy. The save against this effect is the target's Spirit vs the wielder's Agility; this effect lasts 1 turn for every 3 Agility of the Crest wielder.
